Gilbert collects bulk trash for free every five weeks, by zone. Your zone is the same letter as your weekly trash day, so a Monday trash day is Zone A and a Friday is Zone E. The next set-out date for every zone is right below, and the full 2026 calendar follows it.
Gilbert works differently than Mesa. There is no appointment to book and no charge added to your utility bill. The truck comes during your week whether you call anyone or not. The catch is that the calendar only exists as a PDF and a map graphic, so most people never find their week and end up guessing.
The next bulk trash pickup in each Gilbert zone
- Zone E (Friday trash day): put it out Sat, Oct 17, collected the week of Mon, Oct 19.
- Zone A (Monday trash day): put it out Sat, Oct 24, collected the week of Mon, Oct 26.
- Zone B (Tuesday trash day): put it out Sat, Oct 31, collected the week of Mon, Nov 2.
- Zone C (Wednesday trash day): put it out Sat, Nov 7, collected the week of Mon, Nov 9.
- Zone D (Thursday trash day): put it out Sat, Nov 14, collected the week of Mon, Nov 16.
Dates are from the town's published 2026 schedule. Every remaining collection week is in the table further down.
What zone am I in?
Your bulk zone is the same letter as your weekly trash day. Bulk pickup and curbside collection run on one set of zones, not two, so if you know when your black container goes out you already know your bulk week.
| Weekly trash day | Bulk zone |
|---|---|
| Monday | Zone A |
| Tuesday | Zone B |
| Wednesday | Zone C |
| Thursday | Zone D |
| Friday | Zone E |
Not sure of your trash day? Search your address on the town's pickup zone map and it gives you the zone directly. Gilbert does not publish the zone boundaries as a street list, and a few of them cut through the middle of a mile instead of following an arterial, so the lookup beats eyeballing the map.
When is bulk trash pickup in Gilbert in 2026?
Two dates matter. The first is the earliest Saturday you can put the pile out. The second is the Monday your collection week starts. Crews can come any day of that week, so the pile sits at the curb until it is gone.

Two gaps in that list catch people. Gilbert cancels bulk pickup during Thanksgiving week and Christmas week, and the rotation shifts around them instead of doubling up. Zone E jumps from October 19 to November 30, which is six weeks. Zones D and E have no December pickup at all on the 2026 calendar, because Zone C's week slides to the 28th and pushes them past the end of the printed year. Check gilbertaz.gov for the 2027 dates. Weekly trash and recycling are not affected. Holidays never move those.
What gets a pile skipped?
Four things, and a driver who cannot get to the pile will leave it for another five weeks.
- Timing. No earlier than the Saturday before your week, no later than 5 a.m. Monday. The town takes reports of piles set out on the wrong week at (480) 503-6400.
- Location. In the street, against the curb. Mesa collects from the end of the driveway. Gilbert wants it in the street.
- Size. One pile, no bigger than 10 feet long by 5 feet wide by 5 feet high.
- Clearance. Five feet between the pile and your containers, parked cars, or anything else the truck has to work around.
Yard waste has its own limits: trimmings under 5 feet long and 12 inches across, grass and leaves and weeds bagged and tied, cacti boxed and labeled. Basketball hoops have to come apart into at least two pieces with an 8.5 by 11 sheet taped on that says bulk trash.
What Gilbert will take
Furniture that cannot be donated, mattresses, microwaves, dishwashers, toilets, CRT and DLP and rear-projection televisions, glass that is boxed and sealed and labeled, yard waste inside the size limits, and basketball hoops broken down.
Everything in a bulk pile goes to the landfill, and the town notes that cardboard in a bulk pile is not recycled. If a couch is still usable, a donation is worth one phone call first.
What Gilbert will not take
This is the list worth reading twice. One wrong item can cost you the whole pile and another five weeks.
| Not accepted | Where it goes instead |
|---|---|
| Appliances: washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, water heaters, A/C units | Gilbert's appliance recycling program. Call (480) 503-6400 before noon on the Tuesday of your bulk week. $16 for up to two during your week, $85 outside it. |
| Flat-screen TVs and other electronics | Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 2224 E. Queen Creek Rd. Gilbert residents only, with ID and a current town utility bill. |
| Construction debris: lumber, drywall, tile, carpet and pad, cabinets, countertops, tubs, showers, glass and mirrored doors | Not collected in any curbside program. Transfer station, roll-off, or a hauler. |
| Demolition debris: rock, dirt, sod, concrete | Same, and it is weight-priced at any landfill. |
| Auto parts: engines, tires, rims | No curbside program for these. Tires without rims go to the HHW facility, five a year. |
| Hazardous waste: paint, vehicle fluids, pool chemicals, propane tanks, cleaners, batteries, fluorescent bulbs | HHW facility. There are caps per liquid type and per container size, so check before you load up. |
| Pallets and skids, wood or plastic | Not collected in any town program. |
| Household garbage that can decay | Bagged, in your black container. |
Two of those trip people up constantly. Flat screens are not televisions as far as bulk trash is concerned, so the old tube set is fine and the thin one is not. And appliances are a separate phone call, not something you tuck into the pile and hope for. Hours and accepted items at the hazardous waste facility change, so check the town's page before you drive out there.
What if the pile is too big?
If it busts the 10 by 5 by 5 limit but stays under 20 by 5 by 5, Gilbert will do a special pickup for a flat $100. Call (480) 503-6400 to set it up. Past 20 feet the town is out of options, and you are picking between a roll-off, several trips of your own, or a hauler.
Can I haul it myself for free?
Yes, once a month. Gilbert residents get one free load every 30 days at the Waste Management San Tan Transfer Station (4040 S. 80th St., Mesa) or the Republic Services Mesa Transfer Station (6711 S. Mountain Rd., Mesa). Bring a photo ID and a current, non-delinquent town utility bill with a matching name and address.
The load has to stay under one ton. Go over and you pay for the whole load, not the extra. No appliances, no televisions, no hazardous waste, and the town notes the facility may require protective equipment that can cost extra on site.
That is a good deal if you own a truck and have a free morning. It is a bad deal if you are making four trips in a sedan, and it is no deal at all for the construction debris and appliances that got you here in the first place.
When it is worth calling us instead
If your week is nine days out and the pile fits the rules, put it at the curb on Saturday and keep your money. Free wins. We are not going to tell you otherwise.
Call us when the calendar or the list stops working for you. The town rejected your stuff and it is all appliances, flat screens, tile, and cabinets. You cannot wait five weeks because of a closing, a tenant turnover, or an HOA letter. The pile is in a back bedroom and bulk pickup means you move it yourself. Or it is a hot tub, a shed full of junk, a playset, or a whole garage cleanout.
Pricing is flat and based on trailer space. Single items start at $70, a quarter load runs $160, and a full trailer is $500. The quote is the price for the job you showed me. If the job changes, the price changes, and I will say so before we load. The whole breakdown is in how junk removal pricing works. Usable items get donated and metal gets recycled, which is more than a bulk pile gets.
Text a photo of the pile to (480) 316-1884 and you will usually have a price within the hour. More on what we do in town on our Gilbert junk removal page, and the rest of the East Valley from there.
