Queen Creek Bulk Trash Pickup: How to Schedule It

The free monthly pickup that only happens if you book it, the six cubic yard limit, the do-not-collect list, and the $10 transfer station deal most people do not know about.

Queen Creek gives every trash customer one free bulk pickup a month, up to six cubic yards, but you have to schedule it yourself by noon the business day before. There is no zone calendar. You pick the date.

That is the whole difference between Queen Creek and its neighbors. Gilbert sends the truck on a five-week rotation whether you asked or not. Queen Creek's hauler, Waste Connections of Arizona, only comes to addresses on the list for that day. The town runs the billing and the scheduling, and the rules below come straight off its bulk trash page.

How do I schedule a bulk pickup in Queen Creek?

  1. Go to the town's bulk trash page, enter your address in the widget, and open the Collection tab. It shows the dates you can pick. Or call 480-358-3450.
  2. Book by noon on the business day before you want the pickup. A Monday pickup means booking by noon Friday.
  3. Watch for the email confirmation. No email, no pickup.
  4. Have everything at the curb by 6 a.m. that day. Collection can take up to 48 hours, so do not panic if the truck is not there by noon.

Need a second pickup in the same month? The town sells one for $82, also up to six cubic yards, through the additional bulk application. They process it within two business days, so it is not a same-week fix.

How much can I put out?

Six cubic yards a month. The town's own picture of that is a pile about 4 feet by 4 feet by 10 feet. Yard waste has its own rules: grass and leaves bagged or boxed under 50 pounds, limbs no longer than 4 feet and no thicker than a foot, bundled and tied, palm fronds bundled under 50 pounds, cacti boxed.

Two lines in the rules deserve a second read. First, everything at the curb gets taken, containers and cans included, so if you set a trash can next to the pile to hold small stuff, say goodbye to the can. Second, anything not tied down that spills into the road does not get picked up at all.

What Queen Creek will take

Furniture including mattresses and box springs, large appliances other than refrigerators and freezers, lawn mowers with the fluids drained, household garbage, broken-down cardboard, bagged and bundled yard debris, and area rugs up to 8 feet. Everything in a bulk pile goes to the landfill, so a couch that still works is worth one call to a donation pickup first.

What Queen Creek will not take

Not acceptedWhere it goes instead
Refrigerators and freezersThe town's QC Recycles events have taken them in past years, or we haul them with the freon handled properly.
CarpetThe Apache Junction transfer station accepts carpet. Not the curb.
Construction materials: concrete, dirt, rock, gravel, drywall, pavers, wood, brickTransfer station, weight-priced, or a hauler.
Tires, paint, batteries, motor oil, other hazardous itemsGilbert's HHW facility with a Queen Creek voucher. Rimless tires are accepted there.
Car partsNo town program. Transfer station or a hauler.
Electronics and TVsFour QC Recycles events a year at the Field Operations Facility, 19715 S. 220th St. Next ones on the town's calendar: Nov 14, Jan 16, Apr 10, 7 to 11 a.m.

Can I haul it myself?

Yes, and Queen Creek has the best self-haul deal in the East Valley. Town trash customers pay a flat $10 for a load up to 1,000 pounds at the Waste Connections transfer station, 3755 S. Royal Palm Rd. in Apache Junction. Bring a utility bill from the last 45 days or a driver's license with a matching address. Details on the town's self-haul page.

They take household trash, construction material, green waste, and carpet, which covers most of what the curb refuses. They do not take hazardous waste, refrigerators, medical waste, or liquids. The town lists the hours as Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., closed Sundays and major holidays. Waste Connections posts different hours on its own site, so call 480-983-9100 before you load a truck. The Pinal County sites, including the Apache Junction landfill on Tomahawk Road, do not honor the $10 rate.

Where does hazardous waste go?

Queen Creek does not have its own facility. It hands out 32 vouchers a month for Gilbert's Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2224 E. Queen Creek Rd., open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Request a voucher on the town's HHW page and use it within two weeks. Limits are 70 pounds per vehicle, 10 gallons per type of liquid, containers no bigger than 5 gallons. No latex paint, no appliances, no tube TVs. The vouchers go fast at the start of the month.

When it is worth calling us instead

If you can book a date a week out and the pile fits in six cubic yards, use the free pickup. It is included in a bill you already pay.

Call us when the schedule or the list gets in the way. You already used this month's pickup and the next one is $82 and two business days out anyway. The job is a fridge, a roll of carpet, a stack of pavers, or a garage full of mixed stuff that fails the list three different ways. You are moving out of a house in Ironwood Crossing this weekend and the town cannot do weekends. Or the pile is inside and "curbside by 6 a.m." means carrying it out yourself in the dark.

Pricing is flat and based on trailer space. Single items start at $70, a quarter load is $160, and a full trailer is $500, with loading, hauling, and dump fees included. The quote is the price for the job you showed me. If the job changes, the price changes, and I will say so before we load. The full breakdown is in how junk removal pricing works.

Text a photo of the pile to (480) 316-1884 and you will usually have a price within the hour. Queen Creek is about 30 minutes from my driveway in Mesa. More on our Queen Creek junk removal page, and the Gilbert rules next door in the Gilbert bulk trash guide.
