How it works
A backyard in the Valley is only as good as its shade. We assemble the pergola kit you bought so it stands square, anchored, and ready for Arizona sun and monsoon winds.
How pricing works
Every pergola quote is written after we see your space (photos work great) and covers labor and cleanup. Kit assemblies are typically quoted flat.
Sonoran Standard is not a licensed contractor. Under Arizona law, that limits us to small, minor jobs: under $1,000 total, labor and materials together, and only where your city does not require a building permit. Permit rules differ by city, so ask your building department first. If a job is over that limit or needs a permit, we can't take it.
What's included
- Kit assembly (Costco, Home Depot, and specialty kits)
- Anchored so it stays put in monsoon winds
- Packaging and boxes hauled away
- Full cleanup: your yard looks better than when we arrived
Common questions
Do you build custom pergolas or just assemble kits?+
Kits only. A custom pergola build is licensed contractor work in Arizona, and Sonoran Standard is not a licensed contractor. If you bought a kit, send photos and we'll tell you whether it's a job we can take.
How long does pergola assembly take?+
Most kit assemblies are done in a day.
Do I need a permit?+
It depends on your city, the size, and whether it attaches to the house, and the rules are not the same across the East Valley. Ask your city's building department before you buy the kit. If your pergola needs a permit, we can't take the job. Sonoran Standard is not a licensed contractor.
Will it survive monsoon season?+
That's the whole reason anchoring matters. An unanchored pergola in a microburst becomes a very large kite, so every kit we assemble gets anchored.
